Bio
Akhi Johnson is a civil rights attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice's Educational Opportunities Section. At DOJ, he enforces federal civil rights statutes to shield students from discrimination based on race, color, sex, national origin, language, religion, or disability. Before joining DOJ, he was director of the Vera Institute of Justice鈥檚 Reshaping Prosecution initiative where he managed a team that worked with prosecutors across the country to end mass incarceration and address systemic racial disparities. Prior to Vera, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in DC where he was a senior sex offense prosecutor.

He clerked for the Honorable Kimberley S. Knowles at D.C. Superior Court, and was an associate at Jones Day's Los Angeles office.

Johnson is an adjunct professor at WCL where he teaches Evidence. He also teaches a Street Law seminar through Georgetown Law for people incarcerated at DC Jail.
