Bio

Michael Bruckheim enjoyed a diverse career litigating in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia (OAG) for over 11 years. Mr. Bruckheim began in the General Crimes Section (now called the Criminal Section) where he conducted over 50 criminal trials. Mr. Bruckheim spent the majority of his career in the OAG's Civil Division where he defended the District of Columbia in local and federal courts against a variety of claims, including police misconduct, constitutional violations, employment discrimination, failure to accommodate people with disabilities, and personal injury. Mr. Bruckheim also served as the Chief of OAG's Criminal Section, and as the Attorney/Adviser in the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights.



In April, 2010, Mr. Bruckheim opened the Law Office of Michael Bruckheim, LLC where he specializes in DUI/DWI defense. Mr. Bruckheim also practices general criminal defense, and civil litigation. Mr. Bruckheim has completed several trainings in forensic chromatography and is certified as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Administrator and Instructor.



In 2015, Mr. Bruckheim partnered with Sweta Patel, Esq. to form Bruckheim & Patel, LLC. The firm continues to represent clients in DUI and criminal defense, appellate advocacy and civil litigation. Mr. Bruckheim has taught and lectured extensively on DUI defense in the District of Columbia, and he has published 鈥淯nderstanding Changes to DC DUI Laws,鈥 and has authored the traffic litigation section in the DC Lawyer鈥檚 Manual.



He received his B.A. cum laude from Brandeis University in 1993 and his J.D. from the 小蓝视频 Washington College of Law in 1996. He is admitted to the Bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.
