Bio

The Honorable Lisa M. Gregory currently serves at the Interim Chairman/Chief Administrative Judge of the D.C. Rental Housing Commission. She was appointed to the Rental Housing Commission by Mayor Muriel Bowser in January 2018. Judge Gregory assumed the position of chair in April of 2022.



Before joining the Commission, Judge Gregory was the Chief Compliance Officer for the DC Department of Transportation, Office of Civil Rights for over a decade. There she managed a staff of eleven (11) civil rights professionals and provided oversight for eight (8) Federal civil rights programs, including the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE small business) Program, Americans with Disabilities Act Title II, Title VII, and Title VI among other regulatory programs. In her role as Chief Compliance Officer, she provided analysis and solutions to complex compliance issues affecting DDOT and managed an approximate million dollar Federally mandated budget.



Prior to Judge Gregory鈥檚 current position as Chief Administrative Judge of the Rental Housing Commission, Judge Gregory served as a Manager for the DC Office of Human Rights, where she oversaw the intake complaint process. She has worked abroad in Sierra Leone, West Africa where she was a legal intern for the Minister of Justice, the Honorable Abdulai Conteh. Judge Gregory worked on Sierra Leone鈥檚 constitutional issues, including the separation of powers.
