On Friday, May 18, 2018 Dean Camille Nelson and Senior Director for Diversity, Inclusion and Affinity attended the PASOS 2018 Celebration. PASOS is an annual graduation celebration held by the HBA-DC Foundation which recognizes and honors the achievements of our graduating Latino law students and their families. This year鈥檚 event was held at the George Washington University Law School with attendees and participants from the Washington, DC area law schools.
The HBA-DC Foundation was established in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) by the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia to perform the charitable and educational functions of the bar association. This includes supporting the law student community through the HBA-DC Foundation Fellowship Program. The program serves two purposes: 1) Providing monetary fellowships to deserving and qualified first or second year law students, who will work unpaid for public interest legal organizations, which serve the Latino community in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; and 2) Providing law students with valuable work experience and exposure in areas of public interest law and advocacy.
