About the听Competition

Organized by the WCL Center on International Commercial Arbitration, the oral rounds of the听Twelfth LL.M. International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition will start Thursday, April 3, 2025听with a conference that will discuss the key legal issues presented in the problem. The general rounds听will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025 and the elimination rounds, including the final round,听on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

This event was created specifically for LL.M. students and听seeks to foster the study of international arbitration for the resolution of international business and investment disputes.

Team members must be enrolled in a U.S. Master of Laws (LL.M.)听or S.J.D. program. Students from non-U.S. law schools are also eligible to participate as long as they have a law degree and are enrolled in postgraduate law studies.

Students who have completed their studies (through the completion of the required units necessary for the awarding of the LL.M. degree) by December 2024听are unable to be part of a team. Students must be enrolled in an LL.M. or postgraduate law studies program听at the moment of the competition.

The competition focuses primarily on oral advocacy before a panel of arbitration experts. Participants are required to submit a brief argument outline. No other written memorandum is required.听

Special Practical Arbitration Training for Moot Competition Participants

In addition, this year we will offer on Thursday, April 3, an optional, one-day training for team members, coaches and arbitrators on litigation and legal skills in international arbitration. This program will be taught by leading arbitration practitioners from Washington, D.C. with practical case studies and hands-on exercises.
