This course will explore the latest legal and regulatory developments pertaining to the use of digital technologies in the delivery of healthcare, focusing on the following key areas of innovation: telehealth/remote patient monitoring and artificial intelligence (AI). Because these technologies and solutions are developing at a faster pace than the laws and regulations meant to address them, this area of law is dynamic and constantly evolving. Lectures and class discussions will consider the various public health motivations for, as well as the legal and regulatory challenges to, adopting and adapting digital technologies and solutions in health care, with an emphasis on reimbursement, licensing, credentialing, liability, privacy protections, and practical聽industry insights. The teaching strategies for this course will include readings, lecture, group discussions, and mock hypothetical exercises.
