Launch of the Dual Degree Agreement for the LL.M. in Human Rights between Universidad Externado de Colombia and 小蓝视频 WCL
We welcomed the academic community of WCL and the Universidad Externado of Colombia. Dean Roger A. Fairfax, Jr. (Dean and Professor of Law at the WCL) and Hernando Parra Nieto, President of Universidad Externado of Colombia, delivered opening remarks. Professors Robert Goldman, Claudio Grossman, Claudia Martin and Diego Rodr铆guez-Pinz贸n addressed the audience to highlight the importance of this agreement. Mr. Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States, also offered his views about the impact of human rights legal education in the Americas.
During the event, Externado President, Hernando Parra Nieto, awarded Mar铆a Claudia Pulido, Senior Specialist of Inter American Commission of Human Rights and Externado alumna,?with an Honorable Mention for her notable career in the field of human rights.
To conclude the event, professors Diego Rodr铆guez-Pinzon and Andr茅s Gonz谩lez (Visiting Scholar-in-Residence in WCL from Universidad Externado de Colombia) presented a joint academic initiative that analyzes human rights trends based on the collection and classification disaggregated data about mortality rates in different regions and cities of Colombia.听
The Dual Degree Agreement is the result of a long academic relationship with Universidad Externado of Colombia. This university has participated in all the editions of the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition since 1996 and many of Externado鈥檚 students have participated in the program of Advanced Studies that takes place every Summer in our institution. Moreover, several Externado faculty also teach in our LLM in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and WCL faculty have participated in academic activities at Universidad Externado.
The Academy looks forward to a fruitful collaboration in the Dual LLM. This collaborative initiative sets a powerful precedent for international cooperation in education, emphasizing the shared responsibility to educate a new generation of professionals dedicated to protecting and promoting human rights and international humanitarian law.
