Venture to Volunteer Coordinators
Venture to Volunteer Service Coordinators work as a team throughout the summer to design, plan and implement Venture to Volunteer,聽a multi-day experience聽for incoming first-year and transfer students. They聽identify and negotiate service placements (schools and nonprofit groups), design the opening session and evening programs, place incoming聽students聽in various聽nonprofit locations and neighborhoods throughout the DC metropolitan area, prepare leaders to work with their groups and sites, and oversee the actual program.
The three coordinators work from May to September to oversee the planning and execution of Venture to Volunteer.

Meet our V2V team!
Brooke Viner, CAS '25
My name is Brooke Viner and I'm super excited to be a coordinator for V2V this year. I am a Literature Major, Education Studies Minor, and I'm going to be a Senior this fall. I have worked with CLCE for the past 2 years as a DC Reads Education Advocate and Team Leader. I've loved getting to know DC from a social justice and service oriented point of view, and hope our V2V participants will too! I have always been passionate about education equity, but I attribute my time with CLCE as the reason I want to dedicate my future career to the cause. In my free time I run a radio show with friends, and I love to read. Some of my favorite places to visit in DC are Busboys and Poets, Second Story Books, and Eastern Market!
Meliha Ural, SPA '25
My name is Meliha Ural and I'm a senior majoring in Legal Studies with a minor in Communication. I've previously worked in the CLCE office as an Education Advocate for DC Reads, and I currently serve as a Team Leader there. I'm very excited to be a coordinator for V2V this summer for incoming 小蓝视频 students to learn about DC鈥檚 rich history and culture. My passion lies in fighting for the rights of marginalized communities and fostering solidarity. I truly hope V2V will bring 小蓝视频 students closer to honoring and preserving DC while engaging in community work to support the local community.
Fiona Fawcett, CAS '26
My name is Fiona Fawcett and I'm a Junior from Wilmington, Delaware. I'm majoring in Data Science with a focus on finance. As a rising Freshman in 2022, I participated in the program, volunteering at Bread for the City and learning about Wards 7 and 8. I returned in 2023 as a leader, leading participants through Chinatown and volunteering at the Washington English Center. I attribute my time with Venture to Volunteer as a critical role in my interest in a career in nonprofit management post-graduation. In school, I work for an educational nonprofit, run a radio show called Fender Files, and I'm a part of a sorority. In my free time, I enjoy visiting museums, listening to rock, and playing the guitar. I cannot wait for 2024 Venture to Volunteer!
Interested in being an Venture to Volunteer Leader?
This is a great opportunity for leaders who want to bring the world to 小蓝视频 and 小蓝视频 to the world! Venture to Volunteer Leaders are returning participants ready to take a step forward in working with and learning about their DC community. They use passion, skills, and knowledge learned from their time in the program to lead a group of incoming students. A Venture to Volunteer Leader has a strong interest in DC, social justice issues, and nonprofit organizations. Leaders are comfortable being in charge of a group. They are usually the first role models incoming students encounter; thus, our Venture to Volunteer Leaders are positive and enthusiastic about 小蓝视频 as a whole, excited to venture into DC for service, exploration, and dedicated to orienting a new group of 小蓝视频 students to life at American. You'll need to be available during the programming to participate. Leaders living on campus will be given early move-in.
